Joe Beditz, Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer
National Golf Foundation
With nearly three decades at the helm of NGF, Joe Beditz is widely recognized as a leading expert on the business of golf. The NGF board of directors, on which Beditz sits, is a veritable “who’s who” of golf business leaders. Chip Brewer, CEO of Callaway is currently chairman of the NGF board and he serves alongside people like David Abeles, the CEO of TaylorMade adidas, Joe Barrow, CEO of the First Tee, Peter Hill, CEO of Billy Casper Golf and Bill Brown, Group VP of Toro.
In the past, NGF’s focus has been on the U.S., but in recent years the NGF, like many other companies in golf, has extended their services internationally. With the sponsorship support of the R&A and several other global golf brands, the NGF has now developed and maintains a complete worldwide database of golf facilities, upon which the R&A’s 2015 publication: Golf Around the World is based. Similarly, the NGF has also worked with Golf Canada which has recently published Golf Facilities in Canada 2015, based on NGF’s work.
Furthering its international initiatives, NGF has recently partnered with IMG on the HSBC Golf Business Forum. The NGF, represented by Beditz, will take the stage in Shanghai at this year’s event.
Joe recently spearheaded an exhaustive study of millennials and their relationship with the golf, which culminated in the July 2015 publication Golf and the Millennial Generation, the most extensive report available on the topic. On the heels of this research, Joe is embarking on the largest study of junior golf, which will be unveiled at an upcoming NGF Golf Business Symposium. In addition to NGF proprietary research, Joe oversees market research for a multitude of industry organizations and initiatives, including GCSAA’s Environmental Institute for Golf and the PGA of America’s Get Golf Ready program.
Joe sits on the Board of Directors for Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Charities (sponsors of The Honda Classic), and the National Club Association Foundation. He is a member of the USGA Bob Jones Award Committee and the Golf 20/20 Executive Committee.
